If there a dialog buggers you whenever you start Chrome after downgrading it, try to delete the file:

\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Web Data

Just finished The Ballard of Gay Tony… game is short and finished 100% in 16:29 hrs. However the gameplay is better than the other two episodes I think.

Now have to wait for GTA5…

Process priority & admin mode

Never realized that admin right is required when setting the process priority to real time under Windows 7 (Not sure about Vista, never used it). There is an article from MSDN PRB: Can’t Increase Process Priority mentioned the problem and the solution is to grant right in group policy. However I can’t get it to work.

GTA IV almost completed…..

Bought GTA complete pack last October, and it’s only USD$12.49 during a weekend deal. The pack includes all the previous GTA games from GTA1 to GTA4 plus GTA4 expansion packs. Hell yeah, finally I own all the titles legally.

Anyway I just got 100% completion for both GTA4 and The Lost and Damned expansion. According to Steam’s record, I’d spent 109hrs on GTA4 and 19hrs on The Lost and Damned. GTA4 is a good game, but there are just too many drivings (especially Lost and Damned). Many times I have to drive a long long way to meet someone, then drive another couple of miles to somewhere else to do some simple tasks, and the safe houses are usually far far away. Gameplay is significantly easier than all the previous GTA series, most missions can be finished in first try. The weapons do not differ much, I mainly use mp5 as primary instead of m4, and sometimes just use the combat pistol all the way through. The game emphasized on shooting missions, which is kind of boring when comparing to previous series. Street races are way too easy and not challenging at all……

I will start playing the other expansion “Gay Tony” sooner or later. After that let’s wait for GTA5.

最近幾個月都想升級我的電腦. 以往我都是AMD的fans, 用了幾代都是AMD, 對上一次用Intel是99年的dual Celeron 500. 2001年開始用Athlon XP 2100+ (Thoroughbred B), 之後升級上A64x2 3800+(Windsor)和5000+(Brisbane), 家裡還有另一台Athlonx4 640 (Propus).

今年一直在等AMD不斷延期的Bulldozer, 也曾考慮AMD的PhenomII x6. 十月初終於有了Bulldozer的測試結果, 表現雖然不太差但比出了一陣子的Intel i5 (Sandy Bridge)完全有任何驚喜, 更不用說i7了. 加上等了這麼久, 我認為Bullzoer的表現強差人意.

Harddisk最近在瘋狂漲價, 雖然大部份人都是說是泰國水災的關係, 但我認為多多少少只係一場炒作. WD, Seagate等不是所有生產廠房都是在泰國, 還有在短短兩個禮拜內1/2TB的硬碟貴了差不多一倍. 我在二月買的2TB Seagate Green (SATAIII)才是$680一只, 現在卻要$13XX. 幸好我的新電腦用的WD 2TB Caviar Black是剛好在漲價前買入的, 1TB版本在漲價前已經缺貨.

粒i7可以輕易由3.4Ghz上到4.4Ghz, 但我一直把它調到4Ghz左右, 一來增加壽命二來節省用電量.

也許我很久沒有升級電腦, 值得一提是ISA bus已經被完全淘汰, 新的底板上已經找不到PS/2, COM, LPT等的縱影. 連system device裡PCI to ISA bridge都已經不再存在. 幸好我有一條PS2 Keyboard + Mouse->USB的接線, 不然我的PS2鍵盤也要換掉. 另外消失的是IDE, 讓我見證了硬碟接口ST506 -> IDE(ATA Bus/IDE/EIDE) -> SATA的改朝換代.

What does it do? It removes the stupid “Switch to tab” entry when typing URL in the address bar. Simple.

And welcome to another new Pioneer DVD burner. The old one refuses to retract the tray, even by using tremendous of force.

I was actually after a bluray writer, but at this moment the high cost of the burner and the media cannot be justified.
